Join Sean, Rocio and their amazing sons Salvador (11) and Sebastian (7) and new baby for a year of learning, adventure and fun in the Nation’s Capital – Washington DC!
Sean & Rocio are excited to share their home and American culture with a social care professional who has a keen interest in children with special needs and who also loves babies! They live in a beautiful American town just outside of Washington DC, Fairfax, which has great educational opportunities, shopping and dining! Living in Fairfax is convenient to the downtown DC area for sightseeing and nightlife as well as an easy train ride up to NYC for weekend adventures! The family will provide the caregiver with a car to use for local outings.
Salvador (11) has Phelan-McDermid syndrome. He is a growing and sweet boy. He is non-verbal, has cognitive delays, and has autism characteristics. He also has some minor fine motor delays, but that doesn’t interfere with him running around like a typical boy who loves to be active and have fun! He receives regular Applied Behavioral Therapy (ABA), which the caregiver will participate in and learn about.
Sebastian (7) is a very loving boy who loves his brother, and always seeks out for his well-being. He is inquisitive, creative, playful and very active, although he can be shy at first.
Their baby sister is due to arrive in April and the caregiver will get to share in the family’s joy and will be able to help with the baby for several hours of the work week in addition to providing care for the older boys and learning the basics of ABA Therapy.
This family is seeking someone who is compassionate and has an interest in seeing their boys learn and grow. Accountability, independence, initiative, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor are other traits they appreciate. The host parents both work outside the home and the host mom is a Spanish teacher at a local high school. They will welcome a caregiver as a part of the family and provide excellent opportunities for growth and learning.
This is a fantastic job offer and a wonderful chance to live and work as a special needs caregiver in the USA!
