Are you seeking an AMAZING opportunity to live in California and receive training and education in cutting-edge therapies while working with children?
Meet Josh, a 9 year old with Trisomy-21 and cochlear implants and his 11 and 7 year old brother and sister, who are seeking a new caregiver in November 2018! Josh's family offers their caregiver a free training at Stanford University every summer so they can better understand working with children with cochlear implants! His caregiver will also learn how to use the AAC - an iPad that has an app called "touch chat" which is used to help Josh expressively communicate. It's an amazing tool! Joshua has three wonderful speech therapists, an occupational therapist and adaptive physical education teacher. He also does equine (horse) therapy and aquatic therapy. The caregiver is invited to learn from the therapy team. Josh’s current caregiver is currently engaging in a 12 week ABA training with his therapy team and will get a certificate at the completion of her training.
Joshua also has an ABA team (alternative behavioral analysis) which comes to the home weekly. This therapy is really amazing and has helped Joshua learn to keep his processors on, be potty trained, work at the table and play games. This is a family that really values education and the caregiver can participate in any of the therapies she would like to observe - and host mom is willing to make connections with other therapists if she wants more learning opportunities! This year the family also are starting e-soccer, an inclusion soccer program on Saturday mornings! Josh also plays baseball on a team for children with special needs.
Derzeit verbringt Erika (28 Jahre) vom Berufskolleg Dieringhausen bei Köln ihr zweites Jahr mit Joshua's Familie und hat sehr viel aus ihrer Zeit mitgenommen.
